HARMONICS is designed to meet the needs of guitarists, pianists, composers and music students.

It encompasses a simple mode for beginners and an expanded mode for advanced musicians.



––––– What is HARMONICS? –––––


HARMONICS displays all the notes of a scale or a chord on the guitar and the piano. These notes can be moved up and down the instruments as a group, thus changing the chosen key or chord.

Scales and chords can be played with one finger.

The chords are arranged according to their degree of relationship. Their degree of compliance with the scale is indicated by changes in colour.

On the guitar more than three thousand individual fingerings can be selected.

Scales and chords can be individually customised by adding individual notes, the chord names will then be automatically recognised.

The interactive guitar course explains how to tune a guitar, what the most important chords look like and how to play any chord anywhere on the fretboard.

This app presents data of approximately 500 food and ingredient items with in every case a formal reference about the source of data provided.

The convenience of the continuous availability of this app facilitate making eating decisions when:

- at the restaurant,
- as a guess during a meal or
- simply at home while planning a meal.

Gone is the limited and inconvenient Oxalate paper list posted on the refrigerator door.

Every food item listed in the app is presented with:
- a thumbnail image,
- its name,
- the preparation method (if applicable),
- a typical serving size and
- the oxalate level for that serving size.

Selecting an item from that list will present further details such as:
- a larger image,
- the groups it belongs to,
- low Oxalate level food alternatives (if applicable and available) and
- the formal reference of the source of information.

The data is conveniently organized to access it in various ways. Data can be sorted:
- alphabetically,
- by groups (e.g Vegetable, Meats, Soups...),
- by oxalate level or
- alphabetically within each oxalate level category.

The app also has a search function that immediately present search results as you type avoiding having to type more than necessary. During a search, one can select a food item to view details and come back and carry on searching without having to retype the initial search. At any time, the search can be modified or cancelled. Search is available in any sort mode.

The app is constructed to present data in Imperial or Metric units and one can quickly switch from one measurement system to the other.

The only edit function available in this first version is the Right to Left delete sweep to get rid of unwanted food items. To restore all food items simply delete the application and re-install it (at no cost obviously).

The app database is local to the device and therefore the app does not require nor uses the Internet, once installed.

The app is constructed as a multilingual application: English and French languages are supported in this first version.

The Social Norms app was created by a certified speech and language pathologist for children with autism spectrum disorder. This app helps children learn social rules and behaviors through stories.

The Social Norms app is ideal for parents, educators, and speech language pathologists as it allows full customization. The users have the ability to add their own photos, text, and audio recordings to create individualized stories that teach specific skills that the child with autism spectrum disorder may have difficulty learning or understanding.

Although research is still needed in the area of teaching social skills to children with autism spectrum disorders through stories, a number of studies have concluded that using stories to teach particular social behaviors or skills are in fact successful and children may benefit from this type of intervention.

Furthermore, evidence indicates that incorporating visual aids (e.g., visual activity schedules) has positive findings, suggesting that visual aids can be effective for teaching social skills and interactions (Reichow & Volkmar, 2010, p 161).

The National Standards Project (National Autism Center, 2010) also supports teaching social skills through stories as an established treatment for children with autism spectrum disorder for children ages six to 14, with evidence-based findings.
